FPSB Associate Membership Status An organization must complete substantial preparations before it is ready to offer the world-class CFP certification program for financial planners in a territory. The process to prepare to administer the CFP certification program can take up to two years. During this preparation period, an organization can apply for Associate Membership status with FPSB by meeting our Criteria for Associate Membership. By entering into an Associate Membership Agreement with FPSB, an organization agrees to establish and develop – within two years – programs, systems and resources to administer the CFP certification program. As an Associate member of FPSB, you will be supported by FPSB staff in your efforts to establish a CFP certification program in your territory through coaching and best practices. While an Associate member is not authorized to award CFP certification to individuals, Associate organizations still benefit by taking a non-voting part in FPSB Council activities and discussions, and by participating in FPSB's global community by sharing best practices, leveraging mutual experiences, and gaining knowledge and support.
